Carbondale Boat Ramp Project

The Ferdinand Hayden Chapter will be partnering with a number of local organizations this Saturday, May 6th to work on a widely used public boat ramp in Carbondale. We invite you and your family to join us for a half day of work and lunch along the Roaring Fork River. The current work plan involves installing raft tie ups, trail work, and trimming overgrown vegetation. Come get to know your fellow FHTU members and neighbors at this family-friendly event hosted by our friends at Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers and the Roaring Fork Conservancy.

Dan Gibbs named keynote speaker at CTU Rendezvous. “Colorado Trout Unlimited is proud to announce that Department of Natural Resources Executive Director, Dan Gibbs, will be the keynote speaker for the CTU Awards Banquet on Saturday night. As Executive Director, Gibbs leads the development and execution of the Department’s initiatives for the balanced management of the state’s natural resources. Dan works on an array of issues pertaining to all of Colorado’s natural resources, including water, wildlife, state lands, oil and gas and mining. Dan is a respected collaborator and a strong proponent of building partnerships across agencies, nonprofits and private-sector organizations to improve the productivity and success of government operations and services. Prior to joining the Department of Natural Resources, Dan served as a Summit County Commissioner from 2010-2018. Prior to his tenure as a Commissioner, Dan served in the Colorado House of Representatives and in the Colorado State Senate where he served on the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. His legislative accomplishments include securing funding for wildfire mitigation and forest health, creating the Colorado Kids Outdoors grant program, supporting watershed health initiatives, and increasing environmental protections for wildlife from oil and gas development. Dan is a certified wildland firefighter and is affiliated with the ROSS system, through which he is on call to fight wildfires throughout the United States. Well, you're in luck because the state has approved that the "Protect Our Rivers" special license plate still be available across the state! The program has helped raise over $50,000 for river conservation in Colorado.
