CTU Youth Conservation Camp
2018 River Conservation & Fly Fishing Youth Camp. The camp (June 10-June 16) is designed to educate 14 to 18 year old students on the importance of coldwater conservation and provide hands-on fly fishing instruction. Approximately 20 students are selected each year, based on their qualifications and a written essay on why they would like to attend the camp. How to Apply: Complete the 2018 CTU Youth Camp Application Form (below) and send it to Dan Omasta (domasta@tu.org) no later than April 15, 2018. If you are interested in receiving a camp scholarship, you must reach out to your local chapter prior to the April deadline.
Colorado Public Lands Day Outing: Fryingpan River (Basalt SWA)
We will be celebrating the 2nd annual Colorado Public Lands Day by fishing the Fryingpan River on the Basalt State Wildlife Area land. We'll plan to meet up at 9 am at the Basalt SWA sign near Mile Marker 1.5 and have coffee and donuts. Look for the FHTU table and banner and join us for a couple hours of spring fishing on the Pan. This outing is free and open to the general public regardless if you are a TU member or not (registration also not required). Kids are welcome too! Lastly, we will be giving away a dozen of our favorite flies to the person that takes the best photo of themselves or others enjoying public lands during the outing. Hope to see you there!
2018 Western Regional Rendezvous
Join TU volunteer leaders from across the West on April 27-28, 2018 in Keystone, Colorado for enlightening presentations, inspiring dialogue and engaging camaraderie with those who share your dedication to TU and our mission. The TU Western Rendezvous is an occasion to be inspired – by lessons from volunteer leaders, the work of TU staff, and conversations with newfound friends. The event will also be an excellent opportunity to discuss the unique issues facing the region as well as a chance to network and build relationships with fellow TU volunteer leaders.
Fryingpan River Cleanup
The Roaring Fork Conservancy's annual Fryingpan River Cleanup will be held from 8:30 am to 11:45 am this Saturday, April 21st. Meet at Lions Park in downtown Basalt. Breakfast will be served at 8:30 am. Teams of 3-4 people will be assigned approximately 1 mile of river. Registration not required, but is recommended. Help us give back to our home waters and join us at the cleanup! Below is a schedule of events.
Spring Chapter Meeting with Kendall Bakich, CPW
Join us for our Spring chapter meeting on Thursday, April 19th at the Third Street Center in Carbondale (6-8pm). Our speaker will be Kendall Bakich, Aquatic Biologist for Colorado Parks and Wildlife. Kendall will be presenting on native Cutthroat Trout reservation efforts in the Roaring Fork Valley. Her presentation will cover recent and upcoming restoration efforts in the Lime Creek and Hunter Creek basins.

Dry Flies and Wet Whistles
Join the Ferdinand Hayden Chapter of Trout Unlimited and the Roaring Fork Valley Fly Fishing Club for an evening of fly tying instruction, camaraderie, and cold beer at the Red Rock Diner in Carbondale, CO from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, March 22nd. Bring your vise, if you have one. If not, no worries!

2017 Colorado TU Youth Camp
The 2017 River Conservation and Fly Fishing Youth Camp will be on June 11-16 at Bar N I Ranch near Weston Colorado. Please apply for the 2017 camp with the application below and submit completed application to Jeff Florence, JFlorence@tu.org by April 15th, 2017.

CO Public Lands Day Outing: Upper Roaring Fork River (Difficult Campground)
FHTU will be celebrating Colorado's Public Lands Day with a local outing to the upper Roaring Fork River, near Aspen this Saturday, May 20th from 10am - 2pm. We'll meet at the Difficult Campground Day Use Area for coffee and donuts before hitting the water. This outing is free and open to all members and non-members alike. So bring your family and friends and your own fishing gear. Feel free to come and go as you please, but you may want to pack a lunch in case the fishing is good.

The Ferdinand Hayden Chapter is sponsoring a Women's Fly Fishing Clinic to benefit Casting For Recovery on May 20th at Coryell Ranch. This is the rain date for our April 29th clinic that was rescheduled due to weather. The cost is $75. Lunch and instruction are all provided. State of the River Presentation
The Colorado River District and the Middle Colorado Watershed Council will host the Rifle State of the River on May 11th at the Ute Theater. The State of the River is a community presentation about the Colorado River and will include discussion about snowpack and climate. Additionally, presenters will discuss area reservoir operations and their impacts on flows in the Colorado River.
Carbondale Boat Ramp Improvement Project
Join FHTU for a family-friendly project with the Roaring Fork Conservancy, Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Roaring Fork Guide Alliance, Roaring Fork Valley Fly Fishing Club, and the Town of Carbondale. Plans include installing raft tie-ups, creating access trails for users, and trimming overgrown vegetation on the paths. Lunch will be served.

2017 CTU Rendezvous
Join us for the largest annual meeting held in Colorado for TU members, chapters, leaders and supporters. This 3-day weekend is packed with workshops, presentations on important conservation issues and current projects, the annual business meeting for Colorado TU where new officers will be elected, plenty of time for networking, sharing ideas and socializing, and a Saturday evening banquet featuring delicious food and presentation of CTU’s annual awards plus a keynote address from National TU CEO/President Chris Wood.
